Morning Prayer (Brief Form)
I + arise this day in the name of the Trinity.
Eternal light shine in my heart.
Eternal goodness deliver me from evil.
Eternal power be my support.
Eternal wisdom scatter
the darkness of my ignorance.
Eternal pity have mercy on me.
That with all my heart and mind
and soul and strength
I may seek Your face
and be brought by Your infinite mercy
to Your holy presence.
Amen.
Then may follow a time of general meditation and contemplation. The length of such is at the determination of the Officiant. It is concluded with the “O Lord, open thou our lips.” Otherwise, the “O Lord, open thou our lips” is immediately chanted

The Morning Psalms are recited concluded with the Gloria Patri
Then is said
Heavenly Father, I give you my mind;
direct my thoughts this day. I give you my body; direct my actions this day.
I give you my heart, my
will; direct my understanding this day.
Come Blessed Jesus, obedient Son of the Father,
Our guide on the path of light.
Purify me from my sins and cleanse me from these that I now confess to you
(a moment of silent refection is taken);
from these, and all that keeps me from loving you my God, dear Lord deliver me.
High King of Heaven,
Deliver me from the works of darkness.
As holy Columba triumphed over the power of the
Druids and they were vanquished.
As holy Patrick defied the demons and they were
banished,
Ruler of All give me your authority to defeat the
Devil.
With it I claim protection for my family, my church,
fellow members of the Order, those who have requested my prayers,
and myself, from sickness,
harm, accidents and deception.
With it I break all hexes, spells, curses or activity of
the Devil. Let all of these be now broken by Christ Jesus
to whom every knee must bow, and all demons
must now flee to be judged.
May the angels of God now guard and protect us this day.
Come Holy Spirit and fill me this day.
As You spoke in the ear of holy David, speak to me.
Gift of prophecy work through me;
so may I also know, speak, and do your will.
As holy Brigid brought healing to bodies and souls,
so may I be an instrument of your wholeness;
Gifts of healing flow through me.
Gifts of faith and miracles work through me;
now, Lord, may I manifest your heavenly power.
Gifts of wisdom, knowledge, and discernment work in
me; now may I receive and understand your most holy Word,
see the Light of your countenance, and
rightly pray for others this day. Amen.
Reading From Scripture
Spiritual Reading and/or Intercessory Prayer
A portion of the Rule of the Order is here recited
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy Name,
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom, and the power,
and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
ALMIGHTY and merciful God, who in days of old didst give to the lands of Ireland, Wales, Scotland, and England the benediction of thy holy Church; Withdraw not, we pray thee, thy favor from them, but so correct what is amiss, and supply what is lacking, that each may more and more bring forth fruit to thy glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Then is recited
1. I bind unto myself today, the strong Name of the Trinity,
by invocation of the same, the Three in One, and One in Three
2. I bind this day to me forever,
by power of faith, Christ’s Incarnation;
His baptism in the Jordan river;
His death on cross for my salvation; (Sunday)
His bursting from the spic-ed tomb;
His riding up the heavenly way;
His coming at the day of doom:
I bind unto myself today.
3. I bind unto myself the power
of the great love of cherubim;
the sweet “Well done” in judgment hour;
the service of the seraphim; (Monday)
confessors’ faith, apostles’ word,
the patriarchs’ prayers, the prophets’ scrolls;
all good deeds done unto the Lord,
and purity of virgin souls.
4. I bind unto myself today
the virtues of the starlit heaven
the glorious sun’s life-giving ray,
the whiteness of the moon at even, (Tuesday)
the flashing of the lightning free,
the whirling wind’s tempestuous shocks,
the stable earth, the deep salt sea,
around the old eternal rocks.
5. I bind unto myself today
the power of God to hold and lead,
His eye to watch, His might to stay,
His ear to hearken, to my need; (Wednesday)
the wisdom of my God to teach,
His hand to guide, His shield to ward;
the word of God to give me speech,
His heavenly host to be my guard.
6. Against the demon snare of sin,
The vice that gives temptation force,
The natural lusts that war within,
The hostile men that mar my course. (Thursday)
Or few or many, far or nigh,
In every place and in all hours,
Against their fierce hostility
I bind to me these holy powers.
7. Against all Satan’s spells and wiles,
Against false words of heresy,
Against the knowledge that defiles,
Against the heart’s idolatry,
Against the wizard’s evil craft, (Friday)
Against the death wound and the burning.
The choking wave, the poisoned shaft,
Protect me, Christ till thy returning.
8. Christ be with me, Christ within me,
Christ behind me, Christ before me,
Christ beside me, Christ to win me,
Christ to comfort and restore me.
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ in quiet, Christ in danger,
Christ in hearts of all that love me,
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.
9. I bind unto myself the Name,
The strong Name of the Trinity,
By invocation of the same,
The Three in One, and One in Three.
Of whom all nature hath creation,
Eternal Father, Spirit, Word:
Praise to the Lord of my salvation,
Salvation is of Christ the Lord.
