The Order of St. Columba

"Where is the good way? Ask for the old paths,

and you will find rest for your souls."

Jeremiah 6:16

See that you be at peace among yourselves, my children, and love one another. Follow the example of good men of old and God will comfort you and help you, both in this world and in the world which is to come.

St. Columba's prayer for his community on Iona

written upon his deathbed, 597 A.D.

Purpose of the Community and Order of St. Columba

The men and women who comprise the Community and Order of St. Columba have dedicated themselves to a life of discipline conformed to the Gospel of Jesus Christ as revealed in the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, and according to the example of St. Columba and the early Celtic Christian Church.

One Commitment of the Community and Order of St. Columba is to pray for the restoration and reformation of the lands that gave us the gift of Celtic Christianity. Please join us in that prayer.

ALMIGHTY and merciful God, who in days of old didst give to the lands of Ireland, Scotland, and Wales the benediction of thy holy Church; Withdraw not, we pray thee, thy favor from them, but so correct what is amiss, and supply what is lacking, that each may more and more bring forth fruit to thy glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
